The DuPage County Division of Transportation released its Transportation Improvement Plan on Tuesday, identifying capital improvement projects the County will undertake over the next five years.

The $271 million program focuses investments on a state of good repair, system enhancement, system expansion, and mode choice. Projects will be funded using a combination of local, state, and federal sources.

“This plan provides residents with a detailed and transparent look at the County’s vision for transportation improvements for roads, intersections, and bike paths over the next five years. We always put an emphasis on maintaining our existing infrastructure, safety, and reducing congestion, and we will address those goals in a comprehensive and cost-effective manner,” said Transportation Committee Chair Mary FitzGerald Ozog.

The 2023-2027 Transportation Improvement Plan includes continued investment in projects that extend the service life of existing infrastructure, including the County’s annual resurfacing program, traffic signal and street light maintenance, and bridge and sidewalk repairs.

Major improvement projects in the Plan include:

  • Replacing the bridge on Bloomingdale Road over the Canadian National Railroad
  • Replacing the bridge on Geneva Road over the West Branch of the DuPage River
  • Replacing the bridge on Warrenville Road over the East Branch DuPage River
  • Intersection improvements on Lemont Road at 83rd and 87th streets
