7/18/23 Daily Herald article – Civic series looks at future of affordable housing in DuPage

On Thursday, July 20, the Wheaton Public Library, in partnership with the Leagues of Women Voters of Wheaton, Central Kane County, Glen Ellyn, Naperville, and Roselle-Bloomingdale, invites the public to their next Civic Awareness Series program titled “Affordable Housing in DuPage County, A Look to the Future.”

The event will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Wheaton Public Library, 225 N. Cross St. in Wheaton, and virtually via Zoom

The Civic Awareness Series will feature DuPage County Board members Liz Chaplin and Sam Tornatore, co-chairs of the ad hoc committee of the DuPage County Board on Affordable Housing.

They will present the preliminary findings of the committee as the county looks to the future of affordable housing.

The committee has begun to study a definition of affordability, evaluating the impact of local county policies on current development opportunities, analyzing actions of past boards that attempted to increase the affordable housing supply, and determining what resources are available to address the needs.

This event is free and open to the public.

Register at wheatonlibrary.org to attend this event in person or virtually.
