We received an alert from Alternating Currents Corp. for when deep snow is falling, to clear snow from around our back-up power generator.

With a deep snow falling, clear the snow away from the generator to allow air flow into the vents. This will avoid any snow and ice sealing off the vents and causing the generator to not function.

A tip I’ll add:  Be aware of the weekly test-run schedule of the generator (to be sure that snow is cleared away before the next weekly test run).

Also note that your generator may use lights or words to indicate such things as it successfully did its weekly test run and is (or not) in normal readiness.

Additionally, if you have a high efficiency furnace, the outdoor intake and exhaust vents should also be kept free of snow or ice
