The Emergency Contact Database is a free program offered by the Secretary of State. Any person with an Illinois Driver’s License and/or Identification Card can register two contacts for law enforcement to use in the case of an emergency. This is a voluntary program, and you are not required to enroll but are encouraged to participate.

In the event of an emergency situation, where you cannot speak for yourself, law enforcement can access your information and contact the people you have listed. Enroll by visiting ilsos.gov and click on the Emergency Contact Database link listed under “Online Services.”
