Casey’s Gas Station Nears Construction Excerpt from Winfield Glimpses – Autumn 2021
Casey’s parent company purchased Bucky’s several months ago after significant delays caused by federal guidelines on the purchase of the chain. The building is essentially the same elevation and design as the original Bucky’s that had been approved. The major difference had to do with a change to the dining and kitchen spaces needed for a pizza kitchen. Pavement and concrete are expected to be poured before Thanksgiving and once this is completed, the facility will be constructed over subsequent months.
Trillium Farm
Pulte’s website homesite availability map indicates 30 of the 84 lots have been purchased. If you’ve driven on Purnell Road recently you’ll have seen a number of homes already under construction. Concerned West-Win residents have noted that drivers are disregarding the No Turn signs located near the Purnell Road and Gary’s Mill Road stop signs. These signs were installed as part of the agreement to approve Trillium Farm by the DuPage County Board. The sheriff’s department has been made aware of the ongoing issues and their officers will ticket violators if encountered although no specific monitoring will occur.
Mack Road Bike Path – Excerpt from 10/14/20 City of Warrenville meeting
The project includes reconstructing the bridge along Mack Road over the West Branch DuPage River. There will also be a new 10-foot wide asphalt multi-use path on the north side of Mack Road, extending from IL Route 59 to the Blackwell Forest Preserve. Two new pedestrian crossings and traffic signal modifications are also proposed to connect the west side of IL Route 59 to the path. The proposed Mack Road improvements will affect the Forest Preserve property south of Mack Road and will connect to the existing trail in Blackwell Forest Preserve. The Forest Preserve District is a partner in the construction of the trail project. The anticipated bid opening through IDOT is scheduled for November 2022. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2023 and last approximately 9 months to 1 year.
Blackwell Forest Preserve Garage Expansion
West-Win continues to monitor and seek information from the Forest Preserve as it relates to their construction of a large maintenance-type garage facility at Blackwell with its access road coming directly off of Mack Road. Such a facility would result in an increase of truck-type traffic being added to an already heavily used road. It is our understanding that several sites are being considered and no decision has been made as yet.
