Bill, as we fondly knew him, served in many capacities within and outside our association for more than 40 years. He was always congenial, even when challenges occurred which might cause an average person to grumble.
If you drive east on Roosevelt Rd. and then turn slightly left onto “upper” Garys Mill Road, you may remember how much more dangerous that intersection used to be. Bill and fellow West-Win Board Member Gib Van Dine worked tirelessly for several years with the various road authorities to try to get that intersection improved, and had suggested several different possible solutions. The extra left-turn lane there now may not be all that was hoped for, but it’s a huge improvement, resulting in a noticeable reduction in the number of crashes. (West-Win was also successful in getting the intersection warning sign changed to an oblique angle, which more accurately describes the challenges of that intersection.)
We appreciate all that Bill did through his dedication and service to our community, and he will be missed.
